No, I’m not talking about eating healthier, being kinder to others, or any other “best of intentions” resolution for the New Year. I am, however, talking about the music video I’m directing for the new song “Promises” by LA indie band “City City”, to be released in early 2011.
We just wrapped our pre-shoots, 3 days of green screen studios, dingy garages, and rain-drenched landscapes (thank you, mother nature). I’m sworn to secrecy on many details of the project, but I can tell you that it’s fairly elaborate stop-motion, and should be super cool all said and done.
I am incredibly proud of my unbelievable cast, crew, and band members, who have been working their collective asses off. As a director I find it infinitely rewarding to watch a crew come together and work as a team. I always feel a little like an interloper, watching how efficiently everyone is working. As if I could just leave and let everyone get on with it. Not that I ever would because being on set is simply too much fun.
I am a little sad that our pre-shoots are over, though. I’m just getting started and wanted to keep at it. Lucky for me we will be resuming in January to shoot the rest of the project (another solid 4 days at least) and I am already counting the days.
Quick shout out to everyone who has helped so far. It certainly takes a village and I am grateful to you all. They are (in alphabetical order):
Lei Deng, Jaime Freitas, Omar Gonzalez, Eric Grush, Jessica Hoffman, Ashphord Jacoway, Jeff Kirchner, Kevin Lee (the taller), Kevin Lee (the shorter), Dan McCollister, Chris McKee, Kyle Minichelli, Ed Munoz, Mandi Neece, Valerie Ngai, Susan Papa, Jarrett Portnoy, Nicholas Ralbovsky, David Schreiber, Meagan Wilson, and Da Zhang
Stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, have a fantastic holiday, new year, etc.
See you all in 2011.
