It is my very great pleasure to announce that I have just signed a distribution deal for my short films with the Canadian company, “Ouat! Media” (pronounced “what”). Given how difficult it is to find any outlet for short films beyond the festival circuit I am feeling quite proud.
On the flip side, this does mean that I am going to have to temporarily remove my films from my website. So if you haven’t had a chance to check out “Ode to Lost Love” or “The Date”, hurry up. They will be coming down within a matter of days.
Signing the paperwork was an interesting mix of excitement and trepidation. In so doing I became massively aware of just how invested I am in my work. Why else would I feel this reluctance to part with it?
Placing the papers in an envelope and trekking down to the post office was akin to saying goodbye to a member of the family after a most thoroughly enjoyable visit; a bittersweet moment indeed.
And yet, distribution is all part of the process. In many ways, distribution is what it’s all about. Ultimately, having a distributor is a good sign that I must be doing something right. And who can argue with that?
So after handing the sealed envelope to the clerk at the post office, I took a deep breath, went back to my car, and turned my attention to my next project.
